I love being in an industry where expressing your creativity on the outside is encouraged and supported. Cosmetologists and Makeup Artist try some pretty crazy trends. It's almost as if we take the avant-garde runway looks and try and fail until we find a wearable look from it. Colored lipstick has blown up these last few years, but it has never been as prominent as this year. Even conservative brands are releasing bright oranges, dark blues, and even matte blacks. Yes I am aware this look is extremely bold, but if you are curious, or brave enough to try it, read on to learn how to get the look.

Always starting with the eyebrows, I took the Maybelline Brow Drama and used the ball on the end to comb through my brows. I didn't need to set them with my usual Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel because this product gives it some hold to keep my hairs in place. I've always had dark brows, but I recently darkened my hair, so I like how they actually match for the first time in my life. When picking brow products, pick a shade lighter than your actual eyebrows and it'll match it perfectly. Weird logic, but it works.
After priming and setting my eyelids, I took a fluffy blending brush and applied it to my crease extending it out a bit past my eye. Then I took gold and packed it densely on my lid. To give the antique bronze gold shade a little more sparkle I used my favorite drug store find, Revlon Eyeshadow Quad in Metropolitan, and used its gold pigment shade as a wash of color over all of it. I lined my eyes with Elf Liquid Liner and created a wing extending my eye. I applied my favorite lashes, but only to the outter half of my eye. My lash is actually glued on outside my eye a little following the liner. Next I lined my waterline with my mally beauty pencil in brown, and then did a smoke out with elf smudger brush and the color taupe from before.
Moving onto my face. I applied my Urban Decay Naked Liquid Foundation in the shade 0.5. As you can see I am an extremely pale girl. I often struggle trying to find foundations light enough and this one is great and has good coverage. Typically when contouring, you contour with a shade 2 shades darker than your skin, and highlight with a shade 2 shades lighter than your skin. My problem is I am already the whitest shade there is, there is nothing lighter than my shade. So instead I make my cheek contour a little heavier than I should just to give me some warmth so I don't look as corpse like as usual. Here I used my Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit and Nars Orgasm Blush.
To get this looks signature lip, I used Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Blue Velvet. This shade is the perfect royal blue shade. I think it looks striking with my pale skin and doesn't wash me out like a pastel would. Not only that, but because it is a darker color, I will be wearing it all throughout the fall. Maybe not winter because there is a chance someone will think I am a frost bitten corpse, but definitely the fall. It has a doe foot applicator and is so pigmented you only need one swipe to give you this beautiful matte blue. You can use any lip color you are comfortable with for this look if blue is too extreme. I think a dark berry or cranberry would be a beautiful pairing with this look as well.
